A fundraising festival is taking place on Saturday 13th October from 11am to 4pm at the Highbury Orchard, Four Seasons and Highbury Park.
Highbury Orchard Community in conjunction with Four Seasons Garden Project is hosting a Highbury Harvest fundraiser with this year’s pickings of apples. There’s plenty to do for everyone!
Orchard expert Rob Tilling is giving walks and talks on Orchard care, apple heritage and tasting varieties. You can even make apple juice using the press and scatter (an annual favourite)!
Meet community beekeepers and their buzzing friends, buy local honey products, and be judges in the annual honey cake bake off.
Get creative with upcycling activities, natural crafts and find foraging advice on a herbal walk. Explore the heritage site through orienteering or join in a host of workshops including yoga, hula hooping, woodland crafts, and exploring natural dyes. Even dogs have a play zone with local dog psychologist Hannah Molloy, from Pawfect Dogsense.
Refreshments are available to buy at Four Seasons and the Orchard, including vegan food by Change Kitchen. Food waste heroes The Real Junk Food project have created a tasty menu and there’s a Caribbean BBQ.
Local community groups will be on hand to discuss and explore their projects. There’s plenty of space to linger, or celebrate and enjoy nature with friends. Children may come in Woodland fancy dress, with a parade to end the day and a little gift for those that join in.
Parking is available at the car park accessed from Shutlock Lane, but please come on foot if you are able. A few spaces for people with disabilities are available at Four Seasons, 92 Queensbridge Road.
