The Trust

Chamberlain Highbury Trust was established in 2016 to give the Highbury Estate, Joseph Chamberlain’s unique Victorian Gothic house and grounds, a fresh start and sustainable future.

We will create a legacy where Highbury provides a centre of learning for a diversity of people from local, regional, national and international origins to appreciate the house, grounds and achievements of the Chamberlain dynasty whose power and influence is still shaping local and national politics.

We want young people to find out about the Chamberlain family in its historical context and to debate and discuss what it is to be a citizen in 21st century Birmingham.

We will unlock the heritage of Highbury through the careful and authentic restoration of the house and grounds so that it becomes fully accessible to everyone and regains its rightful place in Birmingham’s historical and cultural landscape, not least for the citizens who have campaigned tirelessly for Highbury’s renaissance.
