We want to recruit new trustees to our Trust Board
Will you help us run our heritage business, and educational visitor attraction, with an ambition to support local start-up businesses, and be a great example of a sustainability hub for a green future?
Do you think you have what it takes to enliven and reimagine the heritage and history of places like Highbury, the family home in Birmingham of Joseph Chamberlain?
Are you up for the challenge of managing a multi-million-pound project to restore Highbury and keep it open for today’s visitors and future generations?
If your answers are “Yes”, we are interested in hearing from you because we want to recruit people like you to help us run Highbury as a visitor attraction and as the centre for our programme of youth leadership education.
As a result of retirement, there are at least two vacancies on our Trust Board. We are looking to appoint replacement trustees as soon as possible.
The time for applying is from now until 12 noon on Tuesday 05 October 2021.
About the Chamberlain Highbury Trust
We are a small, young and independent charitable trust, responsible for managing and making accessible the Grade II* listed Venetian Gothic mansion and Grade II listed gardens that form the Highbury estate, once the family home of Joseph Chamberlain. About our mission
Highbury has been a feature of Birmingham life for well over 100 years. Our Trust, on the other hand, has only been in existence for since 2016.
We inherited a mansion and gardens in a sorry state. We have made the mansion weather-proof and re-established the gardens making them accessible to all visitors.
Now we have big plans for a Lottery-funded restoration project to fully deliver on our “public benefit” duty – welcoming more visitors, delivering on our youth leadership education ambition and providing start-up business spaces for local entrepreneurs.
We are excited about what we can achieve – and we would welcome you to join us as a trustee and share our passion.
We describe the work of our trustees in our Role Description for an individual trustee.
Our Trust Board will have responsibility for selection.
Applications will be considered by a selection panel comprised of existing trustees.
Applicants who are shortlisted will be invited for interview by the panel.
